By now, ZULUDIVER 1973 Military straps need no introduction. They deliver a classic rugged look remarkably unchanged from 1944 when UK Military Dirty Dozen watches were issued on the A.F.0210. single pass canvas webbing strap. However, this WW2 strap was some years away in development from the Military Nylon "Classic Bond" style we know today. What we now regard as the definitive 1973 strap only appeared in that very year when the UK Ministry of Defence initiated an evolution of standard-issue mechanical watches and the straps which supported them.

MoD HQ laid down Defence Standard 66-15, specifying a simple analogue watch with chrome-plated metalwork capable of resisting water and dirt which was to be fitted to a grey nylon strap that could provide comfort in all temperatures. The original 1970s straps were 20mm in lug width, although 18mm was later added to match some smaller watches in service. Colloquially, the straps were called "G10s" (pronounced G-Tens). This nickname derives from the MoD Form G1098, which had to be filled in to requisition a new strap.

At ZULUDIVER, we constantly strive to improve and evolve our 1973 Military Nylon straps. Our range is comprehensive, yet there is no place for complacency, and we have many ideas poised, such as new materials, weaving processes and upgraded keepers and buckles.

The latest edition ZULUDIVER WARRIOR TerrainValor watch strap exemplifies our development process and is an ideal combination of durability and comfort. Constructed from a robust 1.5mm thick cotton weave, it balances sturdiness and flexibility, ensuring outstanding comfort during wear. Engineered with longevity in mind, the strap features a tightly woven yet pliable structure, offering a breathable and comfortable alternative to traditional metal or leather options.

Enhancing security, the single-piece strap fitting is secured at two points on the watch. The hardware, meticulously crafted from 316L stainless steel with a brushed finish, provides added durability and reduces reflection, which fits the military ethos.

The new strap comes in both 20mm and 22mm lug widths and is available in four natural colours. Khaki, Beige, Army Green and, of course, Admiralty Grey, as a homage to the original 1973 straps.
