At WatchGecko we’ve proudly developed a pretty vast range of military nylon straps, but as each one is unique and can therefore offer you different benefits, it might be tricky to decide which nylon strap will best complement your lifestyle. But what if I told you that we’d designed the perfect military nylon strap to go with literally any popular watch?

You can check out Hollie’s article if you’d like to find out more about the history of military nylon straps, the conception of the Ridge and how the WatchGecko Ridge collection evolved to become what it is today.

If you still need convincing, here are a few more reasons why the WatchGecko Ridge is the ultimate military nylon strap…

Why the WatchGecko Ridge is the Best Military Nylon Strap

  • It’s inspired by military straps from the 1970’s and is just as tough, meaning no matter how rigorous the adventure may be, your Ridge can take it on with you.
  • It keeps your watch secure to your wrist, even in the event of a spring bar failure.
  • It’s made from a durable yet comfortable 1.2mm thick nylon webbing, just like old-fashioned military webbing.
  • It fits any wrist size from 6 to 9 inches, versatile right?
  • You can also choose from two popular lug widths, 20mm or 22mm.
  • It’s timelessly stylish, offering vintage charm as well as function.
  • It comes in a whopping 22 colourways, so there’s something for everyone.

Ridge Collection

Personally, I love our WatchGecko Ridge straps because of their versatility. We often talk about ‘strap monsters’, that’s watches that look great no matter what strap you slap on them, but it’s rare that a single strap works with any watch. Honestly though, the Ridge really is just that good, and if you keep reading, I’ll prove it…

Tudor Black Bay 58

A success thanks to its daily-beater status, the Black Bay 58 has purposeful vintage stylings but is ultimately a modern utilitarian watch. Crafted using steel and accented with black and rose gold decoration, the BB 58 is one of those strap monsters I mentioned earlier and is a great base to start with when you’re strap swapping.

Watches in this genre, naturally, make a lot of sense with nylon replacement straps and the Black Bay is no different. Our Ridge keeps it simple, complementing the Black Bay 58’s gold accents and accentuating its retro persona with its subtly ribbed, vintage inspired webbing. Not only that, but the brushed stainless-steel keepers and pin buckle of the Ridge perfectly match the finishings of the BB 58’s case.

Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical

Onto our next match made in heaven, the Ridge and the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical. With its bright white, clearly legible dial, the Hamilton Field Mechanical takes a fuss-free approach to functionality. It does what we need it to, and over the year it has remained affordable, that’s what many of us like about it so much. The well-respected Field Mechanical is also a great watch to swap straps on, which leads us straight to the Ridge.

Offering the Hamilton a chance to show off its naturally vintage look, our Ridge strap is perfectly complementary, particularly if you opt for one of our more neutral colourways, like the beige, green, or brown (as shown). Just as tough as the Field Mechanical is, this combination can take you on just about any adventure life throws at you.

Omega Seamaster

The problem with the Seamaster is that it looks good on literally any strap, making swaps feel like a minefield with almost too much to choose from. This is where the Ridge steps in though, making life easier not harder with its versatility and array of colour options.

If you’re lucky enough to own the blue and white ceramic model, you’ll want to take this into account when choosing the right Ridge for you. The pictured navy and white variation is an obvious choice for complementing your Omega’s style whilst also making sure it stays safe and secure on your wrist, no matter the depths you take it to.

Christopher Ward C65 Dune GMT

With its instantly recognisable Christopher Ward DNA, the C65 maintains a clever vintage look that has similar inspirations to our Ridge military straps. Casting their minds back to the 1960s and 70s, Christopher Ward’s C65 is inspired by old-fashioned outdoor and adventure watches. Wearing the C65 evokes a sense of nostalgia for a bygone era and with that in mind it feels only right to pop this stylish field watch on a charming retro strap like the Ridge. Play it safe with green, brown and beige, or show your watch a little love by trying something a little bolder, like our burgundy red/beige stripe variation, you won’t regret it.

Omega Speedmaster

One more Omega won’t hurt right? This time it’s everyone’s favourite moonwatch, which I’m sure needs little introduction. Considering the Speedmaster is basically monochromatic, we might have another strap monster on our hands. Fear not though, if there’s one thing you should have learnt by now it’s that the Ridge is ready for anything, or any watch, you can throw at it. In fact, with such a classic black and white base to work with, a simple strap swap can completely change the feel of your watch. Taking things out of neutral territory, our yellow Ridge completely changes the aesthetic of the Speedmaster, injecting a contemporary twist on its style and bringing it to life with minimal effort.
