The Hatherley Badalassi Carlo Watch Strap is crafted for watch enthusiasts who value authentic materials, traditional craftsmanship, and leather that improves with age.
At its core is premium vegetable-tanned Italian waxed leather from the Badalassi Carlo tannery in Tuscany. Established in the heart of Italy’s historic leather-making region, Badalassi Carlo is renowned for producing some of the finest vegetable-tanned leathers in the world. Using time-honoured techniques, the hides are slowly tanned with natural plant extracts, oils, and waxes, resulting in leather that is strong, breathable, and rich in character.
Unlike heavily processed or chrome-tanned leathers, vegetable-tanned Badalassi Carlo leather ages naturally. With wear, it softens and develops a deep, individual patina, darkening subtly and revealing tonal variation that reflects how the strap is used. This makes each Hatherley strap unique to its owner, evolving alongside the watch it carries.
Artisan Production
Once tanned, the leather is sent to Valencia, Spain, where the straps are hand-assembled by experienced artisans. This region has a long tradition of leatherworking, and each strap is carefully cut, stitched, and finished by hand. Attention is paid to every detail, from the precision of the stitching to the sealed edges, ensuring long-term durability and comfort on the wrist.
Finished in a choice of distinctive colours, the leather is complemented by contrasting beige or matching stitching, giving the strap a versatile, slightly vintage character that pairs effortlessly with both modern and classic watches. At approximately 2.8mm thick, the Hatherley offers a reassuring presence without excessive bulk, making it ideal for everyday wear.
