Expanding upon the core concept of the original REEF diver, the FORMEX REEF GMT allows tracking three different time zones, without sacrificing any of the REEF's robust build quality or patented interchangeable bezel and bracelet systems. The 42mm stainless steel watch is powered by a self-winding COSC-certified SW330-2 GMT movement that comes in Sellita’s highest quality grade, using top-of-the-line components only found in Chronometer-grade movements. The movement is visible through a sapphire crystal display case back and is beautifully decorated, automatically charging with a custom-made skeleton rotor. The thin high-precision caliber allowed to construct the REEF at just 11.4mm thickness and a perceived height of 9.4mm, making it a great fit for travel, adventure and the elegant occasion alike. For any underwater activities, a double gasket construction and screw-down crown are designed and tested for 300 m / 1000 ft of water resistance.
Being one of the most exposed parts, the bidirectional rotatable GMT bezels with a unique sunburst finish are made of an extremely hard and scratch-resistant Zirconium oxide ceramic and one stainless steel option. The bezels with white numerals on the scale are filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 and glow in the dark. The 48-click action is smooth and offers to accurately track a third timezone. This bezel can be changed without the use of any tools.
The sunray finished dial is manufactured at Formex’s in-house dial manufacture in the Jura mountains. The gradient for the different colours is sprayed by hand. The REEF’s bold rehaut-style hour markers are also hand-applied and triangle shaped, pointing towards the broad hour and minute hands that share the same detailed bevelled mirror polish and brushed top surface finishing. Hands and hour markers are deep-filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions.
Features
The Solid-link stainless steel bracelet, the Mesh stainless steel bracelet, the leather and the rubber strap all feature a buckle with a patented fine-adjustment system as well as a completely re-engineered and patented quick release system that allows swapping straps without the use of any tools.
Established in 1999 by two Swiss brothers as an independent watch manufacturer, with family roots in high-end watch manufacturing, the team developed platforms to exceed industry standards with newly developed smart engineering features. Fuelled by a passion for watches, the brand name and ethos derive from the unique shapes generated by all forms of extreme sport, whether on land or sea, i.e., Forme Extrème (extreme shape).
Formex’s uncompromising watch range covers the needs of most watch enthusiasts whether you require an uncomplicated, ultra-modern, chronometer for a black-tie event or a rugged dive watch for timing during intense sport or adventure.
