We knew Watches & Wonders 2024 was going to be filled with plenty of bright coloured dials. It’s a trend we’ve seen grow over the past couple of years, and there’s no sign of it slowing. But what we didn’t expect was for NOMOS, masters of the modern, minimalistic watch, to launch a series of Tangente watches in 31 new colours – a colour for every day of the month.
NOMOS has always been known for their colour expertise. Just over the last couple of months, they’ve launched some really beautiful hued watches like the Club Campus Non-stop Red & Blue and the Metro 33 Sage (a watch I’ve not stopped thinking about since I reviewed it). But it seems the Glashütte watchmaker isn’t stopping there and are cementing themselves as experts in colour combination. Interestingly, they’ve chosen their best-selling Tangente model to use as their canvas. The Tangente has remained unchanged in colour for more than three decades and now, it appears in 31 different colour combinations.

Now I’m not about to list off the 31 different colours available in the NOMOS Tangente 38 date – 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte collection. I’ll be here all day. Instead, I’ll mention some of my personal favourites and then I highly recommend you go check out the NOMOS website to admire the collection as a whole. Each model has a fun and unique German name to match the personality of the dial.
The first model to catch my eye was ‘Chili’ which has an unmissable crimson red dial, baby pink seconds track and hot pink small seconds dial. Model ‘Poporange’ is another striking design with a burnt terracotta display, a cherry red small seconds and contrasting black printing for the elongated numerals. Finally, I really love ‘Dunkelbunt’. It’s a fun twist on a classic black dial opting for red and blue typography. Overall, it’s a really fun and funky collection of watches and to me, perfectly embodies NOMOS as a brand. They’ve never been afraid to experiment with styles and colours but they’ll always still maintain the core principles of their Bauhaus-inspired design.
Other than the 31 new dial colours, the specifications of the NOMOS Tangente 38 date – 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte collection is a familiar sight. The simple, perfectly round and brightly polished cases measure to 37.5mm wide and just 6.8mm tall with square, faceted lugs and flat sapphire crystal glass. The cases are 30 metres water resistant and their backs are individually engraved with their dedicated model name and its limited edition status out of 175 pieces.
Through the back of each NOMOS Tangente 38 date watch, you can also admire the brand’s in-house DUW 4101 hand-wound calibre. It has been regulated according to chronometer standards for high levels of accuracy and is equipped with NOMOS’ swing system. It provides classic hours, minutes, small seconds and date function and a power reserve of 42 hours.
