An evening full of watch talk and a couple of drinks with a great community...
The 1st of September marked not only the start of another month but also the very first time we have exhibited at an event as Geckota watches. One of the downsides to selling purely online is people cannot handle the watches and experience our passion for them before adding one to their collection. Events such as this offer people that opportunity and the Diver's Watches FB Group GTG was the perfect place for this.
For those of you who haven't experienced the watch community on Facebook let me explain. On Instagram, the community is essentially a collection of many different accounts sharing watch images with each other harnessing the use of hashtags to bring these people together.
On Facebook, the passionate people are still there, but instead of a hashtag connecting people, it's a Facebook group. These groups work on a request to join basis and once accepted, the vast world of horology based watch enthusiasm pours out. One of the biggest groups on Facebook is 'Diver's Watches'. With 45,000+ members, we have been a sponsor of this group for around year now and jumped at the opportunity to exhibit the latest Geckota watches to a room full of like-minded, dedicated watch enthusiasts.
The event was hosted at the Sofitel Hotel at Heathrow, London. A great location for both people based in the UK and enthusiasts around the world to easily travel to and enjoy an evening of watches, drinks and good company. With around 30 Geckota models on display all on different replacement watch straps, our range of leather goods, Geckota packaging and of course some freebies the evening kicked off...
Official numbers from the evening came to 100+, it's fair to say the team and I didn't really get a moment to stop. In-depth chats about the current watch industry, discussions about how many of you discovered both WatchGecko and Geckota, telling our full story and history, explaining in detail the models in the range and of course providing visitors with some real hands time of the watches. Many of you who came to visit the show had bought straps and watches from us over the years and it was fascinating to hear all the different stories about how you came across WatchGecko and which watches and watch straps you have in your collection.
The evening provided the team and me with some great feedback from our customers not only on existing watches and straps but also the new, exclusive models we have yet to provide detailed info on online.

I'd like to take this opportunity on behalf of the whole Geckota team to thank everyone who attended the London GTG on 1st September. We were all very much looking forward to showing people our products in person and were met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from attending members.
A huge thank you must go out to Colin Weaver, Andreas S. Gregoriades and all other members who had put so much effort into making the evening one to remember, see you next year!
