What types of leather watch straps do you offer?

We offer a wide range of leather watch straps including smooth calf leather, vintage-style pull-up leather, suede, padded leather, rally straps, crocodile-embossed designs, and more. Whether you prefer a classic dress look or a rugged, worn-in aesthetic, there’s an option to suit every watch.

Do your leather straps come with buckles?

Yes, our leather watch straps come fitted with a buckle, typically made from stainless steel, with finishes such as brushed, polished, gold-tone, or black depending on the model.

All of our two-piece leather straps also feature a removable buckle, attached with a spring bar. This means you can easily remove it using a spring bar tool and replace it with a different finish or your existing OEM buckle if you prefer.

Will the colour match the photos?

We aim to represent colours as accurately as possible. However, leather is a natural material, so slight variations in tone or grain can occur. This natural variation adds to the character of the strap and is part of what makes each piece unique. Lighting and screen settings may also affect how colours appear on your device.

Will the leather change colour over time?

Many full-grain and vegetable-tanned leathers develop patina over time. This natural ageing process deepens colour and adds character, making each strap unique.

What should I consider when buying a leather watch strap?

Start with the correct lug width (e.g., 18mm, 20mm, 22mm), then consider the strap’s leather type, padding, taper, stitching, and lining. Your choice should reflect both your watch style and how you plan to wear it, whether formal, casual, or everyday use.

How do I know what size strap I need?

To determine the correct strap size, measure the lug width of your watch in millimetres (the space between the lugs). Common sizes include 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm. You should also consider strap length based on your wrist circumference.

What strap length should I choose?

Standard strap lengths fit most wrists at approximately 120mm/80mm. Customers with smaller wrists may benefit from shorter strap options, while larger wrists may require longer lengths to ensure the buckle sits centrally and comfortably.

Should I choose a tapered or straight strap?

Tapered straps (e.g. 20mm to 16mm) create a more refined, dress-oriented look, while straight straps maintain the same width throughout and often feel more robust or sport-focused.

For straps that feature a taper, we include a taper table in the product listing that clearly shows the lug width and the corresponding buckle width for each size.

Is shell cordovan worth it?

Shell cordovan is denser and more durable than standard calf leather. It creases differently, forming smooth rolls rather than sharp wrinkles, and develops a distinctive patina over time. It carries a higher initial cost but can outlast multiple standard leather straps.

Why are some leather watch straps much more expensive than others?

The price of a leather watch strap depends on several factors, including the type of leather used (such as calf, shell cordovan, or alligator), the tannery it comes from, hide grading, construction method, lining material, and finishing details. All of our straps are crafted from high-grade animal hide leather, but variations in materials, craftsmanship, and construction techniques can influence the overall cost and longevity of the strap.

What colour leather strap should I choose?

As a general guide:

  • Black – formal and dress-focused
  • Brown – versatile and suitable for daily wear
  • Tan – casual or vintage styling
  • Burgundy or green – more distinctive styling options

A medium brown calf strap is often the safest and most adaptable choice.

What is the best leather for a watch strap?

The best leather depends on how the strap will be worn:

  • Full-grain calf leather – versatile and ideal for everyday use
  • Textured leather (e.g. Epsom-style) – more resistant to visible scratching
  • Shell cordovan – extremely durable and develops rich patina
  • Alligator or crocodile – formal and structured for dress watches
  • Suede or nubuck – softer and more casual
