Dubai Watch Week 2023 has not been short of bold, exciting and often colourful releases. But of all the brand’s attending, no watchmaker has directly launched a watch with Dubai’s modern, urban lifestyle in mind. That is if we don’t count Carl F. Bucherer, who has just released two new watches - the Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral ‘Green Paradise’ and the Manero Minute Repeater in Titanium – inspired by the essence of life in Dubai.

The most colourful of the two novelties, the Tourbillon Double Peripheral ‘Green Paradise’ watch is a reinterpretation of a limited edition watch in black released earlier this year. All the fundamental characteristics remain with the obvious difference seen on its sunray dial. The display is now finished in a rich opulent green, a colour chosen because of its cultural significance in the Middle East. A hand-stitched Louisiana alligator strap pairs with the centrepiece.

Surrounding the emerald green dial is a rainbow-inspired bezel coated in 40 baguette-cut 3.9-carat tsavorites, sapphires and rubies. The gemstones have been carefully placed in seamless rainbow formation around the dial, pairing with the additional baguette-cut tsavorites, sapphires and rubies (each 0.4 carat) on the dial that match exactly with their nearby bezel counterpart.

Against the 18ct white gold case, these coloured gemstones go unmissed and create a playful display of light and colour. The case measures to 43.1mm wide and 11.57mm tall and arrives with domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, and a matching sapphire crystal case back for a view of the movement inside. There’s also a 30 metre water resistant rating and an 18ct white gold pinlock folding buckles on the strap.

As for the movement, the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral ‘Green Paradise’ watch elects the in-house CFB T3000 automatic winding movement. It positions a tourbillon complication at 12 o’clock, not only as a mesmerising visual but for supreme accuracy. Its peripheral mounting lends it its renowned ‘floating’ appearance, dancing above rhodium-plated wedge hands for the hours and minutes. The movement comes with a 65-hour power reserve.

The second novelty for Dubai Watch Week 2023 is a little more on the classic side, but still no less impressive in its creation. For the first time, their Manero Minute Repeater arrives in titanium and pairs with an 18ct white gold dial. The display has a beautiful grained pattern with contrasting rose gold hands and index markers. It’s an incredibly stylish combination, and one that leaves most of your attention drifting towards the tourbillon and minute repeater.

Powering the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Minute Repeater Titanium watch is the CFB MR3000 calibre, an automatic winding movement entirely designed, developed and manufactured in-house by the brand. It took six years to develop and comprises of 617 parts including an 18ct rose gold oscillating rotor and 47 jewels. Its most impressive feat is the Triple Peripheral technology which allows it to feature both a peripherally mounted automatic winding system and ‘floating’ tourbillon but also a peripherally mounted minute repeater regulator.

The latter presents a miniature hammer that strikes the gongs to represent the hours, quarter hours and minutes. According to the brand, the minute repeater “delivers a distinct tonality and resonance that sounds clearer and ‘brighter’ than any other ever attained.”

The titanium housing sits on the wrist at 43.8mm wide and 12.48mm tall with domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. There’s also a barely-worth-mentioning water resistance of 10 metres. Contrasting nicely against the polished and brushed finish of the case is a black hybrid rubber strap. The band has a ‘Milky Way’ texture leading down to a DLC coated titanium and stainless steel pin-lock folding buckle.
