A look at the original W-02 - The Vintage Chronograph

Geckota announced the release of the W-02 Vintage Chronograph August 2019, alongside their unique Jumping Hour W-01. The W-02 adds a chronograph option to their Workshop range which is found in three classic case tones.

These W-02 watches feature a silver stamped grain dial, with a smooth recessed outer ring for the tachymeter. This not only helps give the dial depth, but additionally ensures ultimate readability. A touch of elegance compliments the silver dial with rose gold or gold chamfered hands, and matching elongated indices. Each dial is completed with a heat blued chronograph and subdial hands. This centred chronograph hand sits stationary until the top pusher is used, where it begins to count stopwatch seconds.

The design of this range features smaller details which emphasises the W-02’s elegance, with touches of contrasting metal tones on the handset and crown & pushers accordingly.

The new W-02 Vintage Military Chronograph is now available on WatchGecko!

Last week Geckota introduced some new editions to their Workshop collection, one of which is the W-02 Vintage Military Chronograph, a model which takes inspiration from the iconic military chronographs from the 50s and 60s.

This collection features striking vintage lume and even a telemeter scale (something historically used as an artillery range finder). This makes the military chronograph hard wearing and practical, whilst maintaining a touch of class that you would expect from a classic 50/60s design.

The same case design and movement is seen across the W-02 collection - see below for overall W-02 details! - but it's military dial expands this collection to offer more options and styles at an affordable price. With either black or white subdials to choose from, this subtle difference transforms the overall look of each one!

The new W-02 Vintage Racing Chronograph edition

Every watch collection deserves to include a racing chronograph, and with the W-02 Racing Chronograph you can immerse yourself in the spirit of vintage racing! This evolved version of the design is available in two colour options and is a great chance to own a classically inspired chronograph at an affordable price.

Each dial features two contrast matte dials with contrasting bold subdials. In line with the other W-02 models, the right subdial has a 30 minute counter, accompanied by a running seconds subdial on the left. Familiarly referred to as ‘panda’ & ‘reversed panda’ dials, the racing W-02 is inspired by beloved, timeless designs which have been built throughout classic eras in history.

Dashes of super-luminova lume are found across the slender polished hands & indices, and painted black lines run down the centre of the hands adding that extra touch of detail and legibility. Additionally, a minute marker runs around the edge of the dial for ultimate precision.

Details of the Workshop Collection

Movement
The heart of the W-02 is made up from the Seagull ST19 Hand Wound Mechanical Chronograph movement and offers a power reserve of around 42 hours. This detailed movement can be seen through its crystal clear case back, another subtle feature which heightens the sophistication of the W-02.

Case and Crystal
The same case (made from 316L stainless steel) shape is used for both the W-01 and W-02, with minimal differences which transform the design of each piece. Sitting comfortably at 37mm, with a lug-to-lug size of 47mm, the Workshop collection fits 18mm straps making it a perfect choice for anyone who is looking for a vintage dress watch.
