There’s certainly a lot of big names in the watch world collaborating right now, and I’m not complaining. Whether it’s Oris and The Muppets or Omega and Swatch, we’re seeing genius minds in the industry come together to create new and exciting releases that merge the appeal of two different brand DNA’s. Or in the case of the new Furlan Marri release, three.

Furlan Marri has joined forces with online watch magazine, Revolution Watch, and famed watch collector, Auro Montanari, to deliver their first ever fully mechanical chronograph. And they’ve not just stopped at any standard chronograph either but chosen a complex flyback chronograph. The three references include the 3177-A ‘Taupe Flyback’, the 3188-A ‘Salmon Flyback’ and the 3199-A ‘Honey Blue Flyback’.

All three designs have a new case shape for Furlan Marri. They have 38mm wide and 13.2mm tall stainless steel architectures with highly polished, concave bezels. It’s a change from the stepped bezels of Furlan Marri’s popular mechaquartz chronos. The olive-shaped chronograph pushers are decidedly retro and sit beside a knurled crown with a 50 metre water resistance. The cases also have “glass box” type sapphire crystal with five layers of anti-reflective coating and a top layer of anti-fingerprints coating.

The three Furlan Marri Flyback Chronographs differ in their dial colour. The first is the 3177-A ‘Taupe Flyback’ which sports a dark grey dial with black and white indications for nice readability. The 3188-A ‘Salmon Flyback’ elects a two-toned salmon pink and black dial. It’s central salmon section has vertical-brushed finishing and the same silvered hands and numerals as its taupe-coloured counterpart. Finally, the 3199-A ‘Honey Blue Flyback’ stands out with a royal blue dial with gold-coloured letting and hardware.

Arguably the star of the show for the Furlan Marri Flyback Chronograph watches is the movement inside. Rather than nominating the Seiko V64 mechaquartz movement seen with previous Furlan Marri chronographs, the Swiss watch brand have debuted their first fully mechanical chronograph watch by utilising Sellita AMT5100 movement. The manual-winding movement is column-wheel activated with flyback chronograph complication.

The movement boasts a 63-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800vph. There’s also a total of 23 jewels, some of which can be spotted through the case’s exhibition case back. The finishing of the movement is pleasant. It has the signature rose-gold plated finish with Côtes de Genève striping, a blued column wheel and matching blued screws. To match their dial colouring, each Furlan Marri Flyback Chronograph arrives on a leather strap in blue, black or golden brown.

The Furlan Marri Flyback Chronographs are limited to 300 pieces each and retail at CHF 2,750 excluding tax. Where to find them depends on which model you want. The 3177-A ‘Taupe Flyback’ will be exclusively distributed by Furlan Marri while reference 3188-A ‘Salmon Flyback’ will be exclusively distributed by Revolution Watch. You’ll be able to find reference 3199-A ‘Honey Blue Flyback’ available at both.
