The concept behind the Boldr x WatchGecko Polaris began with aventurine - a naturally occurring form of quartzite flecked with chrome mica, known for its ability to catch light and shimmer like a starlit sky.
When used for watch dials, aventurine creates beautiful, almost cosmic patterns, evoking the vast, silent beauty of space - captured and contained on your wrist.
Before the invention of GPS or even detailed maps, ancient peoples relied on the stars to navigate. To find true north, the key is locating Polaris - better known as the North Star. To find Polaris, you first need to identify two other constellations: Ursa Major (commonly called the Big Dipper) and Cassiopeia.

Start with the Big Dipper. Look for the two stars that form the outer edge of its bowl. Draw an imaginary line straight out from those stars, and you’ll eventually land on a bright star - that’s Polaris.
If the Big Dipper is hidden, Cassiopeia can help. Look for its distinctive W shape. From the middle of that W, draw another imaginary line downward across the sky. This, too, will point you toward Polaris.
These constellations are highlighted in Super-LumiNova, with the brightest star - Polaris - placed at the centre of the handset. Even in total darkness, you’ll never lose your sense of direction.
And yes, the stars are where they should be. The final design was signed off by our very own Alice, an avid astronomer, to ensure astronomical accuracy.

The Polaris is built not just to guide you, but to accompany you on your boldest adventures - staying true to the proven specifications of the Venture range.
Its lightweight titanium case is water-resistant to 200 metres and paired with a rugged nylon strap for reliable, all-terrain wear.
A sapphire crystal protects the dial, resisting scratches and scuffs so your view of the constellations beneath is always clear.
At its core is the Seiko NH38 - a tried-and-tested movement known for reliable accuracy, even under the shocks and vibrations that come with life off the beaten path.
Polaris carries the spirit of the night sky - not as a symbol of the past, but as a companion for wherever your next journey leads.
Guided by the stars. Built for the journey.
The Polaris is a 100-piece limited edition and will be available to buy for £399 at the Hands On Horology show in London on the 14th June 2025, and online on the WatchGecko website from the 16th June 2025.
