High quality genuine Horween leather NATO watch strap by ZULUDIVER.
Chicago's Horween Leather Company has set the standard for the highest quality leathers since 1905. Just like us, they pay attention to the detail, the little things that really matter, and doing lots of little things right.
Also like us, they believe in skillfully combining old with new – in Horween's case, 'traditional, old world tannages and techniques, carefully updated with modern applications.'
The 'NATO strap' is derived from straps used with fixed lug-bar watches during WW2. In a 1973 Defence Standard, the British Ministry of Defence formally defined the specification of the strap we know today as the NATO (or 'G10', after the form service personnel had to complete in order to get one from quartermaster's stores).
The popularity of the NATO, not least among military regiments, led to its appearance in many colours and patterns beside the standard specification Admiralty Grey. We took some of Horween's finest handmade leathers and crafted them into the classic NATO watchstrap. For extra security, we've stitched in both the keepers on this watch strap and made them large enough for the strap to be passed through twice if needed.
Today, the NATO band is the fashionable watch strap so many of us wear for its rugged versatility, or as an easy way to dress a luxury watch down. Our NATOs are durable, changeable and strong. And and the interweaving double-layer design that passes through the lugs means it is very secure too – even if you 'pop' one spring bar, if your watch is on a NATO, the watch head will remain attached to the strap.
Each NATO gives added reassurance due to the way it attaches separately to your watch's spring bars.
