Seiko has announced the release of a new limited-edition Prospex Speedtimer, created to mark its role as Official Timekeeper of the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Limited to 6,000 pieces worldwide, the new Speedtimer pays tribute to Seiko’s storied legacy in sports timekeeping with a vibrant tribute to Japan’s cultural and athletic heritage.
The Prospex Speedtimer 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships Edition is presented in a wearable 39mm stainless steel case and features a rich purple dial inspired by ‘Edo-Murasaki’ – a traditional Japanese colour historically associated with status and nobility. Also known as Tokyo Purple, this distinctive hue was once derived from local purple gromwell flowers native to the Musashino region, when the city of Tokyo was still known as Edo.
