Junghans’ max bill Bauhaus series has already seen the German brand release two models encompassing the Bauhaus design codes. With a third, the max bill Regulator Bauhaus, due to become available in July, we can surely expect to see more of that famously minimalistic aesthetic inspired by Bauhaus.

The German Bauhaus movement, which lasted from 1919 to 1933, often saw art and architecture produced that was abstract, angular, and geometric with an austere simplicity. Having conformed to the purist design traits of Bauhaus design since the 1950s, Junghans have again consciously chosen elements, such as matte stainless-steel cases, white dials, and colorful red accents, to capture the simplistic design style made famous by artists such as max bill.

Having already produced a Chronoscope reference as well as an Automatic, the latest model in the Junghans max bill Bauhaus series is the max bill Regulator Bauhaus. Presented in a 40mm matt stainless steel case and equipped with the Automatic Caliber J800.5, the Regulator Bauhaus offers a 38-hour power reserve and a red date display. Centrally located minutes and off-centre hour and second displays can be found on the matt white dial, as inspired by the highly precise regulator wall clocks which would once aid watchmakers as they regulated their creations. Visually dominated by the red minute hand that would play the most crucial part in regulating wristwatches, the dial also features subtle luminous dots which have been made with an environmentally friendly substance.

The clean, minimalist design of the max bill Regulator Bauhaus is finished with a partially transparent case back design which depicts the Bauhaus building with printing underneath the crystal, through this window a view of the mechanical movement can be seen.
