In yet another announcement from Watches & Wonders 2024, which is taking place in Geneva this week, Jacob & Co. have unveiled the Astronomia Régulateur. Historically used by watchmakers eager to regulate their own work, régulateur’s are known for their ultra-precise accuracy and characteristic separate dials to display hours, minutes, and seconds.

Jacob & Co’s Astronomia Régulateur 43mm rose gold timepiece has those aforementioned individual displays to showcase the hours, minutes, and seconds in three different locations on the dial and incorporates an exclusive new high watchmaking caliber.

Inspired by the impossible”

With a groundbreaking take on the régulateur, Jacob & Co. have taken a watchmaking classic and refreshed it with a unique twist. Thanks to its floating 3D architecture, the movement is able to make a near-miraculous full rotation in just 60 seconds. As the slimmest Astronomia-type movement Jacob & Co. has ever designed, the Caliber JCAM6 features an impressive total of 552 components.

Offering wrist-friendly proportions thanks to its rose gold case with a diameter of 43mm and a thickness of 18mm, the Astronomia Régulateur is fitted with caliber JCAM56. This all-new construction builds on the foundations of the Astronomia Revolution. The JCAM56 has a rotation speed of 60 seconds and carries three arms, one of which being the flying tourbillon, which makes one rotation in one minute. The other two arms are dedicated to displaying the time, with a sub-dial displaying the minutes with fine scale printed indications and the other to tell the hours.

For watchmakers and workers regulating their own work, the seconds indication was the most vital and, in this case, is the most uniquely characteristic. A long, elegant golden hand sticks out from the vertical movement’s base and points to the seconds scale; a large, domed, blue and translucent ring. The ring itself spins counterclockwise in 60 seconds and offers a clear and unparalleled way to display the seconds.

Jacob & Co. unveiled the awe-inspiring Astronomia Régulateur at Watches & Wonders 2024. 250 pieces are expected to be made available at a price of $280,000. More information can be found at Jacob & Co.
