The collection honours the legendary P-51 Mustang aircraft, which almost eighty years ago, was delivered to the 78th Fighter Group in Duxford, England. In April 1945, as World War II finally began to draw to a close, the aircraft was assigned to Lt. Hubert “Bill” Davis who affectionately nicknamed it “Twilight Tear” after his favourite racehorse. Davis went on to play a crucial part in the infamous raid on Hitler’s eagle nest and his remarkable feats are now memorialized by AVI-8’s striking creation.
