As a successful symbiosis of technical, sporty appearance and a multitude of functions typical of SINN, the model 105 St Sa UTC W was able to convince the 132-member jury.

Sinn Spezialuhren fulfilled the demanding evaluation criteria, which the international jury of experts recognised with the high-quality and renowned design award. Unlike other awards, the iF Design Award determines the best winners on the basis of detailed questions in the areas of idea, form, function, distinction and impact. These categories in turn form the basis for a points system. With the model 105 St Sa UTC W, Sinn Spezialuhren was able to achieve 285 out of 500 possible points.

The prize is awarded to a watch that combines a reduced, contemporary design with the possibility of using the watch as a versatile instrument. The robustness of the bezel is ensured by SINN's patented black hard coating on a tegimented base, while the bright dial with round indices impresses with its fresh and clear design.

Form follows function

For certified engineer Lothar Schmidt, owner of Sinn Spezialuhren, the award is confirmation that the principles on which the development and design of Sinn Spezialuhren timepieces are based hold true. ‘We are of the firm belief that form should always follow function in the design of our watches. This award is further proof that outstanding design quality and uncompromising functionality are mutually dependent rather than mutually exclusive. We’re particularly proud that our 105 St Sa UTC W has won the iF Design Award this time.

The iF Design Award has been one of the world’s most celebrated names in terms of outstanding design since 1954. The award is presented once a year by the world’s oldest independent design institution, iF International Forum Design GmbH. It is one of the world’s leading design awards and recognises outstanding design across multiple disciplines. There was an extremely large number of applicants in 2023: the jury had to choose from almost 11,000 entries from 56 countries for the coveted seal of approval.
