Nivada Grenchen Autochron Mecaquartz
The Autochron Meca-Quartz by Nivada Grenchen is a chronograph powered by the VK67 meca-quartz movement, combining quartz precision with a smooth sweeping chronograph hand. It features a 38mm stainless steel case, rotating bezel, double-domed sapphire crystal, and 200m water resistance.
The WatchGecko Limited Edition
To celebrate both the Autochron and 100 years of Nivada, the design process began with a deep dive into the brand’s history. That research led us to Jean Singer, one of the most influential dial designers of his era, whose work helped shape some of watchmaking’s most recognisable chronographs. Singer’s archives contain a remarkable collection of concepts and prototypes that never reached production. Among them, we discovered a striking teal and cream chronograph dial. Its unusual colour combination immediately stood out, balancing visual clarity with a sense of individuality rarely seen in traditional chronograph design.
That forgotten concept became the creative spark for this watch. By pairing the Autochron with inspiration from a dial that never made it beyond the drawing board, we created something that celebrates Nivada’s past while giving a fascinating piece of horological design history a new opportunity to exist.

About Nivada Grenchen
Founded in 1926 in Grenchen, Switzerland, Nivada Grenchen built its reputation on robust tool watches designed for adventure. The brand became particularly renowned in the 1950s and 1960s, producing versatile, purpose-driven timepieces such as the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver, the Antarctic, and the Depthmaster. These watches combined technical capability with distinctive mid-century styling, earning a loyal following among pilots, divers, and explorers. After a period of dormancy, Nivada Grenchen was successfully revived, reintroducing faithful reissues that capture the spirit of its heritage while appealing to modern enthusiasts seeking vintage character with contemporary reliability.
