The Autochron Automatic by Nivada Grenchen is a chronograph powered by an ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic movement. This is the more expensive and more authentic version of the watch; there is also a cheaper mecaquartz version available. It features a 38mm stainless steel case, rotating bezel, double-domed sapphire crystal, and 200m water resistance.
The Autochron Automatic by Nivada Grenchen delivers the tactile feel of a mechanical chronograph. Its textured black dial features Art Deco-inspired typography on sand coloured subdials, creating depth and a distinctive vintage character. Powered by the ETA Valjoux 7750 self-winding automatic movement, the dial maintains the same layout as the original prototype model.
Founded in 1926 in Grenchen, Switzerland, Nivada Grenchen built its reputation on robust tool watches designed for adventure. The brand became particularly renowned in the 1950s and 1960s, producing versatile, purpose-driven timepieces such as the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver, the Antarctic, and the Depthmaster. These watches combined technical capability with distinctive mid-century styling, earning a loyal following among pilots, divers, and explorers. After a period of dormancy, Nivada Grenchen was successfully revived, reintroducing faithful reissues that capture the spirit of its heritage while appealing to modern enthusiasts seeking vintage character with contemporary reliability.
