The ‘lug width’ is simply the internal width measured between the lugs (where the watch strap fits) of the watch.
The WatchGecko Abyss PU Rubber Dive Watch Strap has been developed as a rugged, comfortable and refined strap for modern dive watches, sports watches and everyday tool watches.
The Abyss combines classic professional dive strap influence with modern materials and manufacturing standards. Its sculpted profile, strong PU rubber construction and solid 316L stainless steel buckle give it the practical feel of a serious dive strap, while the clean finishing makes it versatile enough for daily wear.
Produced by a specialist manufacturer with experience supplying components for well-known Swiss watch brands, the Abyss benefits from advanced production controls and class-leading manufacturing methods. The result is a strap with a consistent finish, precise detailing and a quality feel that sets it apart from generic rubber alternatives.
The strap is made from high-performance PU rubber, chosen for its balance of flexibility, strength and comfort. It is well suited to water use, warm weather, active wear and general day-to-day use, making it an ideal upgrade for dive watches and sports watches. The PU rubber does not contain PFAS substances.
A key feature of the Abyss design is the use of diver-style expansion ridges near the lugs. These take inspiration from historic professional dive straps, where flexible ridged sections were used to help improve comfort and allow natural movement when worn over a wetsuit. On the Abyss, they also add a distinctive tool-watch character while helping the strap sit comfortably on the wrist.
Each strap is fitted with a solid sandblasted 316L stainless steel buckle, finished with a deep-etched WatchGecko logo. The matte buckle finish complements brushed and bead-blasted watch cases particularly well, giving the strap a purposeful, low-reflective look.
Selected versions are also available as the Abyss ND Edition, featuring a printed No-Decompression limits dive table on the long strap side. ND tables were traditionally used by divers as a quick reference to estimate how long they could remain at a given depth without requiring planned decompression stops during ascent. While modern dive computers have largely replaced printed dive tables, the ND detail remains an iconic reference to professional dive equipment and adds a distinctive technical aesthetic to the strap.
The ND table print is applied to the long side of the strap only and has been designed as a heritage-inspired visual feature. It should not be used as a substitute for certified dive instruments, proper training or current dive planning equipment.
Please note that this strap is not supplied with spring bars. In most cases, you can reuse the spring bars already fitted to your watch, which also ensures you continue using bars correctly sized for your specific case and lug design.
