This watch is classed as “Like New”, which means that it is either a customer return or a former photo sample. As such it could have very minor signs of wear and may not be supplied with the original box. However, it has still been checked to ensure that it is running perfectly, and it has a 6 month warranty.
The 140 St Space Chronograph is the pride of Sinn's catalogue. The watch gets its name from having twice been worn by German astronauts in space.
This current edition of the 140 Space Chronograph boasts the latest technologies Sinn has to offer. The 44mm steel case has been hardened with Sinn's TEGIMENT Technology, which makes it especially scratch resistant. The watch is also equipped with Ar-Dehumidifying Technology. This impressive feature removes any moisture that accumulates inside the watch and binds it to a copper sulphate capsule within. The watch is also filled with gas to ensure that there is no moisture inside upon assembly. Lastly, the crown and pushers are sealed using Sinn's D3-System, which provides protection from knocks, and dirt & moisture ingress.
To compliment this suite of unique engineering, the watch has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and 100m of water resistance. There’s also an internal rotating bezel operated by the crown at 10 o’clock.
The movement ticking away inside the 140 St is the Sinn SZ01. This is based on the reputable Valjoux 7750 and boasts 25-jewels and a 42-hour power reserve. The biggest change to the 7750 is that the SZ01 has a 60-minute register on the chronograph that's tracked from a hand at the centre of the dial. This makes it easier to see the elapsed minutes than if they were displayed on a sub-dial.
Why This Watch?
About Sinn
Sinn Watches was founded in 1961 and has long been a big name in horology. The brand was originally focused on producing navigation clocks for cockpits, and this design is reflected in their collection of pilot watches decades later. Sinn promises uncompromising functionality in their watch collections, even in the most demanding conditions. Thanks to industry leading technologies such as Ar-Dehumidifying and antimagnetic construction, Tegiment steel hardening and temperature stabilized movements. It’s not surprising then, that Sinn is praised for their high-quality movements and materials and loved by collectors for their accuracy in extremely adverse conditions.
