There are over 4 billion years of history on your wrist with this dial made of an extraterrestrial rock called Muonionalusta. This meteorite blasted into the Earth atmosphere some four ice ages ago into an area north of the Arctic circle. To make the dial, special machining and treatment is required to reveal the distinctive characteristic of this iron meteorite. The beautiful equilateral triangles that create the Widmanstätten pattern is a result of very slow cooling over millions of years, whereas the crystalline structure of the minerals within the core of the asteroid changes. Since the textures are organic and cannot be artificially reproduced, each single dial is a completely unique piece.
Limited to just 88 pieces
This watch features a highly precise COSC-certified Swiss Automatic movement. It comes with the same tested and proven patented features as the ultra-light ceramic/carbon Essence Leggera lineup, such as the Case Suspension System and a folding clasp made of carbon fiber, with a unique fine-adjustment system that perfectly adapts to the wrist’s ever changing size due to heat and humidity.
Movement
Under the hood beats a Swiss Made Sellita SW-200-1 automatic movement ensuring both accuracy and reliability. It comes in its highest quality grade ”Chronometer”, using top of the line components only found in Chronometer-grade movements. Each of the movements undergoes the COSC-certification process, a meticulous 15-day rate test to ensure extraordinary levels of mechanical accuracy and precision. Only the movements who pass the stringent assessment will be certified and engraved with a unique serial number. The movements’ power reserve extends to approximately 41 hours.
Dial
After being cut and treated, the final product is a perfectly flat disc that measures just 0.65mm thick and perfectly showcases the natural pattern of the meteorite. Since the textures are organic and cannot be artificially reproduced, each individual dial will appear slightly different, making every single watch a completely unique piece. Applied indices, deep-filled with Super-LumiNova® BGW9 and mirror-polished bevels provide legibility day and night.
Straps and Clasps
Formex has teamed up with WatchGecko to create a matching, all-black British Military watch strap. For a perfect fit and comfort on the wrist at all times, the leather, rubber and nylon straps use the all-carbon Formex Deployant clasp with a gradual, 7mm fine-adjustment system. All straps can be changed without the use of any tools and in just a few seconds.
