We all know and love the Tudor Black Bay 58. It’s been around for over 7 years now and is probably the best-selling Tudor of all time (speculation). We’ve used it for countless product showcases, articles and videos but we’ve only ever featured one. The original and classic M79030N-0001, otherwise known as black. In 2020 another BB58 was released that captured my heart, the M79030B-001, otherwise known as the Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue!
The original BB58 is widely considered by enthusiasts to be one of the most versatile watches on the market thanks to its black dial and classic styling. But can the blue dial, the watch I fell in love with, stand toe to toe with the commercial giant? To find out I once again raided the WatchGecko stock room and found my favourite strap combos for this watch.
WatchGecko Rubber Straps for Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue
WatchGecko Premium Rubber Watch Strap to Fit Tudor Black Bay 58

It’s hard not to pick this strap as it was designed specifically for this watch! The white works especially well with the blue BB58 as the text, indices and hands are all in stark white. Able to go anywhere the watch can, this is a seriously capable strap to have while exploring the ends of the earth with you BB58 on wrist.
The rubber is very supple and is super comfy to wear. I love the look of the strap integrating into the case and this styling adds a touch of modernity to the vintage inspired timepiece.
WatchGecko Oblique Milanese Mesh Stainless Steel Watch Strap

The BB58 is a true vintage inspired diver. Based on the Rolex and Tudor Submariners of the 1950’s, this is a modern watch with modern capabilities that pays homage to the first true dive watches. To keep things vintage inspired, I went for a Milanese mesh. A look which a certain other modern dive watch has been somewhat milking recently!
Specifically, this is our Oblique Mesh bracelet, and I think it would be perfect for someone actually using their BB58 for diving. The clasp is easily adjustable without the need for any tools, allowing you to stretch it over a wetsuit. A feature that the original bracelet on the watch lacks as it was released before Tudor’s T-Fit system. And the 316L stainless steel will hold up well against salt water. I still always recommend giving your watch a rinse after using it in salt water, just to be extra safe.
OCTOPOD Elasticated Watch Strap

I’m a big fan of the elasticated OCTOPOD. It’s comfy, convenient, soft, waterproof, and available in a load of awesome colours. It was actually the strap that accompanied me and my BB58 on a recent trip to California where it took on mountain hikes, lake swims, jet boats and snorkelling. And at the time of writing this I am just days out from a full week of snorkelling in Cornwall, for which I shall of course be using my BB58 and most likely on this strap too!
I chose the Riga colour as the green is a great contrast to the blue dial and is a nod to Tudor’s military history. Their watches have been used by armed forces around the world from the United States Marines to the French Marine Nationale, who still to this day issue Tudor watches and the civilian version is available to buy in the form of the Pelagos FXD Marine Nationale.
Arbour Hand-Stitched Denim Design Genuine Leather Watch Strap

Crafted from leather to mimic the look of Denim, our Arbour Straps are so soft to the touch. The texture adds visual interest too and becomes an accent to the very simple design of the BB58. I chose the grey as I thought it would best compliment the steel case and blue dial, but I tried both the blue and blush too and they looked great! I love the unique aesthetic this Denim pattern gives while also tapering down to 16mm which adds a touch of elegance.
With a super comfortable leather underside, this is not one for swimming in. But if we’re honest, 99% of BB58s spend 99% of their life outside of water (again, speculation but you can’t tell me I’m wrong!).
Vintage Cavallo Horse Leather

The BB58 is a very well-made watch and with prices creeping over the £3,500 mark, it’s expensive too. A watch of high value deserves to be worn on a strap of equal measure. This Vintage Cavallo strap is from our premium line and is fully handmade in Belgium. The vintage stitching speaks to the BB58’s 1950’s design language and adds a touch of class to an otherwise sporty watch.
I love how the ‘Taupe’ colour compliments the blue of the dial. Imagine wearing this combination to a formal event with a lovely navy-blue suit, you wouldn’t be able to stop people complimenting you if you tried.
Ready to Refresh Your Black Bay 58 Blue?
I think I need to stop doing strap showcases for watches I own because I’m going to end up spending far too much money.
Nonetheless, this has been a fun article to write about a watch that means a lot to me as without it, I most likely would not have fallen so deeply in love with watches nor would I be sitting here today, writing for all of you. So, for that I am eternally grateful to the Black Bay 58.
