Hot on the heels of the elegant new Presage Classic Series, Seiko now turns its focus back to the depths of the ocean with two new Prospex models launching today. Both are part of the brand’s ongoing collaboration with PADI – the Professional Association of Diving Instructors – and continue Seiko’s longstanding tradition of crafting capable, reliable diving instruments with a strong visual identity.
Seiko Prospex Releases June 2025
Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s PADI Special Edition

The first of the pair is the Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s PADI Special Edition, a handsome reinterpretation of the original 62MAS – Seiko’s first-ever diver’s watch, introduced back in 1965. This new version features a richly textured green dial inspired by the ocean surface seen from below, with rays of sunlight breaking through the waves. Subtle, yet impactful, the dial also houses a small, upright date window between 4 and 5 o’clock for improved legibility.
Inside the stainless steel case beats the automatic 6R55 calibre, offering a solid 72-hour power reserve and rated to an impressive 300 metres of water resistance. The watch is fitted with a short-pitch bracelet complete with a micro-adjustable clasp, and it’s delivered with a second strap made from recycled fishing nets – a thoughtful touch that nods to both sustainability and Seiko’s deep connection to the sea. This special edition will be available for pre-order at SeikoBoutique.co.uk, priced at £1,500.
Seiko Prospex 4R Compact Mechanical Diver's Watch

Also joining the line-up today is the Prospex 4R Compact Mechanical Diver's Watch, which distils design cues from two of Seiko’s most recognisable modern dive watches – the angular Samurai and the sleek Shōgun – into a new, refined form. With a more compact 41.7mm case, this model is built with comfort in mind, yet it retains the rugged dive-ready credentials the Prospex name is known for.
Two colourways are offered: a sharp Cobalt Blue, and a vivid Underwater Green PADI Special Edition, released as part of Seiko’s celebration of 60 years of dive watchmaking. Both models feature a pressed-link bracelet, pointed hands, and a practical date display between 4 and 5 o’clock. Powered by the 4R35 automatic movement, they’re water-resistant to 200 metres and fully ISO-certified for diving. Prices are set at £560, with pre-orders available from today.
Together, these releases illustrate the breadth of the Prospex line – from heritage-inspired recreations to contemporary crossovers – and demonstrate how Seiko continues to honour its tool-watch roots while refining the details that modern collectors appreciate. Whether you're drawn to the oceanic dial textures of the 1965 Heritage Diver or the everyday versatility of the new Compact Diver, these PADI collaborations carry forward a legacy over half a century in the making.
