The Glashütte based brand release some new models to their classy Ludwig line...
Three new special editions from NOMOS celebrating 175 years of Glashütte watchmaking have arrived! A centre of fine watchmaking since 1845: Timepieces made in Glashütte, Germany, are unique around the world. NOMOS Glashütte is marking this significant anniversary with three limited-edition versions of a classic model.
These three new versions of Ludwig have traditional features that are unusual for NOMOS timepieces—making them even more classic. To start, all three have a polished enamel-white dial that is reminiscent of early pocket watches. The rounded hands in the classic leaf form are also special—as well as tempered blue of course, according to Glashütte tradition. They ensure that these watches are exceptionally legible. The sapphire crystal glass back features a limited- edition engraving and the addition: “175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte.”
Alongside the hand-wound version with the NOMOS Alpha calibre (Ludwig – 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte), there are two versions with innovative automatic calibers from NOMOS Glashütte: DUW 3001 (in Ludwig Neomatik 39) and DUW 6101 (in Ludwig Neomatik 41 date). These two Neomatik movements represent a new technical standard, as well as mechanical watchmaking taken to the highest level. Typical Glashütte features are visible through the sapphire crystal glass such as the three-quarter plate, tempered blue screws, ribbed polishing, and the NOMOS swing system. This in-house designed and built escapement sets the pace inside the caliber, and NOMOS is one of only a handful of watchmaking companies worldwide able to produce it. Ludwig Neomatik 41 Date also features a date function with Roman numerals for the very first time. And the fact that all three models are also regulated as a chronometer would be an extra-special feature—and a wonderful 175th anniversary gift.

First impressions
The Ludwig model from NOMOS has been on our list of models we’d like to take a deeper look into soon as it takes all the aspects of the Tangente we love, but just makes them a little more formal with that to the roman numerals. However these new 175 year anniversary models turn up the formal heat even more. Seeing a new handset on NOMOS watches is great to see adding some new depth to these simple dials. A roman numeral date is something that will probably require a little more processing power when on the wrist, but we can’t help but love this addition.
There is something here for every wrist size. To find out more be sure to head to the NOMOS Glashütte website here.
