Christopher Ward’s fan favourite GMT watch returns, this time with a smaller 36mm-wide case. The C63 Sealander GMT 36mm delivers all the goods of its 39mm counterpart but with new compact dimensions that will attract wrists of every size.
British watchmaker Christopher Ward has definitely realised there’s a market for 36mm watches right now. They launched their popular The Twelve in these dimensions not all that long ago after the 40mm variant was received so well. Their C64 model was also updated with a smaller case and a glittering Aventurine dial in the “Celest” edition. So, it fares well that the new Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT 36mm watch is going to be another nice surprise for those with a penchant for mid-size watches.
The original C63 Sealander was launched with a 39mm wide steel case with dials in black or white with bright orange GMT hands. The new 36mm variants are not all that different, boasting the same stainless steel architecture and bright orange accents. As for the dials, the classic black and white displays return alongside a new dial Christopher Ward has named “Dragonfly Blue”.
The three new Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT 36mm watches still boast the familiar fixed 24 hour bezel to work alongside the oversized, orange-coloured GMT hand for reading multiple time zones. The bezel and case is machined from marine-grade 316L stainless steel with brushed and polished surfaces and warrant a reasonable 150 metre water resistance.
The dials are lacquered in black, white or blue and ensure nice levels of legibility thanks to the Super-LumiNova® Grade X1 BL C1 inserts applied to the indexes and hands. A date window is included at 6 o’clock offset by the Christopher Ward logo at 12. A small change is made to the seconds hand which is no longer tipped in orange to match with the GMT hand.
Powering the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT 36mm watches is the Sellita SW330-2 GMT, an automatic winding movement that handily allows you to set the GMT hand separately from the rest of the complications. It offers a 50-hour power reserve and is put on display through a sapphire crystal case back.
The C63 Sealander GMT 36mm is available on a variety of straps including bands of Aquaflex rubber and two metal bracelet styles. The classic three-row link bracelet is known as CW’s Bader bracelet while the jewellery-like five-link strap is their newer Consort bracelet. All straps are easy to swap over thanks to the pioneering quick-release system.
The Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT 36mm is available to order now for £895 on an Aquaflex strap, £1,020 on a Bader bracelet and £1,060 on a Consort bracelet.
