Your quick-reference guide to our best-selling OCTOPOD strap collection.

Fifty years ago, the British Army created a watch strap so reliable, it became the blueprint for military-style straps around the world. At WatchGecko, we’ve always loved the simplicity of that design—but we also saw room to push it further. That’s why we created the OCTOPOD system: a complete rethink of the military strap, blending rugged dependability with modern materials, intuitive function, and a level of refinement that today’s watch enthusiasts demand.

At the heart of OCTOPOD is a purpose-built, pass-through deployment clasp, precision-engineered from 316L stainless steel. It’s secure, comfortable, and designed to stay out of the way while you get on with your day. Once it’s installed, changing straps is fast, tool-free, and oddly satisfying. Whether you're heading to the office, the gym, or the great outdoors, the OCTOPOD system lets you tailor your setup in seconds—with a growing collection of straps that bring their own distinct feel to your wrist.

Below, we take a closer look at some of the key strap styles available for OCTOPOD—each one built to work seamlessly with the MK3 buckle, and each one offering its own balance of comfort, style, and durability.

OCTOPOD Apex Nylon Watch Strap

The Apex is a tightly woven nylon strap made for everyday reliability. With its uniform texture and subtle sheen, it offers just enough polish to dress up a field watch, while remaining firmly rooted in military design. It dries quickly, resists fraying, and wears comfortably straight out of the box—making it a no-fuss choice for any occasion.

Why choose theOCTOPOD Apex Nylon Watch Strap?

  • Clean, durable weave that resists wear
  • Slight sheen makes it more versatile than standard nylon
  • A great all-rounder for both work and weekend

What Our Customers Think

“Love the colour and it looks great for a casual, sporty and beachy vibe. Looks amazing on Tudor FXD.

OCTOPOD Elasticated Watch Strap

Elasticated straps are known for comfort—but this one takes it a step further. Made from high-stretch woven material with a soft and lightweight texture, it conforms naturally to your wrist and adjusts as you move. It’s ideal for long days, active use, or anyone who prefers their strap to feel barely there.

Why choose the OCTOPOD Elasticated Watch Strap?

  • Stretchy fit ensures all-day comfort
  • Lightweight and breathable for warm weather
  • A modern, low-profile look that suits any tool watch

What Our Customers Think

“I bought an OCTOPOD elasticated strap a few weeks ago. Now I've got another to match the bezel on my Pepsi GMT, which looks great!”

OCTOPOD Oxford Leather Watch Strap

OCTOPOD Oxford Leather Watch Strap

The Oxford adds a refined twist to the OCTOPOD lineup with soft, lightly waxed leather and subtle padding. It feels instantly luxurious but gains character the more you wear it, developing a natural patina over time. If you want a military strap that can still look at home with tailoring or smart-casual gear, this is the one.

Why Choose the OCTOPOD Oxford Leather Watch Strap?

  • Supple leather with a smooth, premium finish
  • Patinates beautifully with wear
  • Perfect for dressing up watches with lived in military heritage

What Our Customers Think

“I’m an instant fan of the OCTOPOD system! Great quality and really enjoying the look of the leather strap on my Speedy!”

Lightweight, airy, and full of texture, the Perlon strap is made from tightly braided synthetic fibres that mould easily to your wrist. The open weave design offers natural ventilation, while the fine grain pattern adds a touch of visual depth. It’s a go-to choice for summer or anytime you want something light but distinctive.

Why Choose the OCTOPOD Perlon Nylon Watch Strap?

  • Breathable braided design ideal for warmer months
  • Adjustable fit without bulk or padding
  • Adds subtle texture and interest to simple watch dials

What Our Customers Think

I am a big fan of Perlon straps, I find them more stylish than a standard nylon, with better lightness, breathability and adaptability when used in various lug widths, due to the ability to expand or compress slightly. To have them available now in the OCTOPOD range is just fantastic as I can cover my watches with 19mm, 20mm and 21mm lug widths with a single 20mm OCTOPOD clasp and some 20mm Perlon straps in various colours. Winner!

OCTOPOD Ridge Nylon Watch Strap

With its raised centre channel and ribbed profile, the Ridge strap is built for a more rugged look. It’s slightly more structured than the Apex, giving a snug, supportive fit that works especially well with chunkier dive or pilot’s watches. The ridged design also adds grip and visual impact—without overpowering the watch itself.

Why choose the OCTOPOD Ridge Nylon Watch Strap?

  • Ribbed weave for a distinctive, tactical aesthetic
  • Snug, supportive feel for larger case sizes
  • Adds structure while remaining comfortable

What Our Customers Think

“I was looking for a solution for my black/orange Seiko Willard. The OCTOPOD MK3 offers a good range of colours and importantly now has black pvd option. I’m convinced this is best available solution… only £10 each so fair value and brought a few alternatives to experiment, though likely to settle on the orange.”
