The NTH Todaro and Upholder Dive Watches

Introducing the new Todaro and Upholder Sub Divers to our collection of NTH watches.

We at WatchGecko have been collaborating with NTH for a while, from our first collaboration of the NTH DeviRays to now stocking a variety of their dive watch collections. For those unfamiliar with the NTH brand, they specialize in producing practical and rugged dive watches inspired by classic designs. The company was founded back in 2016 by watch enthusiast Chris Vial. A well-known person in the watch community and active member of the WatchUSeek forum, who ran the successful watch microbrand Lew & Huey before starting NTH.

The NTH Todaro and NTH Upholder are the newest addition to the collection of NTH dive watches. There are two versions for each watch, featuring a date and no-date version. The Sub Dive watches take on an eye-catching design for their dials, featuring bold white markers and large numbers at 12, 4 and 8 o’clock positions on the Todaro, generously coated in C3 Super-LumiNova®, with a date window at 6 o’clock for the date-version. The NTH Upholder on the other hand takes on more minimal minute markers highlighted by bold indices, not diverting attention from the woven texture of the dial. The Upholder features the same Super-LumiNova® coating for excellent readability in poor light conditions, while the inclusion of a yellow second’s hand and yellow accented details on each watch breaks up the monochrome look with a splash of vibrant colour.

Looking past the look of the dials, each NTH watch utilizes the purpose-built design of a Sub Diver. Each watch has been individually pressure tested to ensure its 300-meter (1000-feet) capability of water resistance. The 40mm steel case also boasts a big crown case protecting the screw-down crown with the signature NTH lume, and a slightly raised double-domed sapphire crystal with antireflective coating. The Todaro and Upholder both come on a steel link bracelet with a lug-to-lug of 20mm, which can be interchanged easily with a variety of strap options such as military style strap or rubber diving straps.

Powering the Todaro and Upholder is a reliable Miyota 9015 movement for the date version, and a 90S5 for the no-date version. These are 24 jewel movements beating at 28,800 bph, providing a power reserve of up to 42 hours and regulated to within -5/+15 seconds per day.

All in all, the NTH Todaro and Upholder boast an impressive water resistance for this price point. Both really show off their own personality amongst their Sub diver counterparts, and are given the retro design elements to emulate the good looks of a vintage timepiece, with enough contemporary flair that provides its wearer with something fresh and exciting.
