How to make the most unique pilot's watch on the market look even better...

Not too long ago we reviewed the Laco Kempten Erbstück, a pilots’ watch with a twist. Playing on the popularity for vintage watches, Laco have made a new watch and then forced-aged it by hand. The result is a watch that’s completely unique, and which has an incredible vintage look, without any of the cons that vintage watches have.

Of course, this faux patina lends itself mostly to pairing the Laco with brown straps. Whilst this might sound boring to some of you, I’ve picked out a few options to show just how much variety you can have within that. Though there’s also a couple of other options to show you that the Laco Kempten Erbstück is perhaps a little more versatile than you might think…

Naphill Genuine Nubuck Leather Quick Release Watch Strap in Dark Brown

Let’s kick things off with the dark brown Naphill Genuine Nubuck Leather Watch Strap. The rich chocolate shade of the leather smartens up the watch nicely, which is no mean feat where the Laco is concerned. Meanwhile, the cream stitching perfectly matches the cream markers on the dial. As an added bonus, the strap comes with quick release springbars, so it’s a breeze to fit.

Next up is our Contoured Italian Leather Strap. Again there’s that complimentary cream stitching, but the leather itself has a bit more variety in its colour. The result is that this strap embraces and accentuates the worn look of the Laco Kempten Erbstück, without making it look shabby.

The dark brown option of our Besford strap is another great choice for the Kempten Erbstück. Just like the Naphill the deep colour and white contrast stitching dress the watch up. However the Besford keeps things from getting too formal thanks to its matt textured finish.

Now, if you really want to double down on highlighting that creamy lume, you could try our Vintage Highley Genuine Leather Watch Strap. This one also has quick release spring bars, and is a bit shorter in length for those with slender wrists. The depth of colour also blends well with that forced patina on the Laco’s case.

Pro ZULUDIVER Military Herringbone Watch Strap in Army Green

No Strap Showcase for a military inspired watch would be complete without a Military style strap option, and the Laco is no exception. Our new Herringbone Military Nylon in Army Green looks great on the Kempten Erbstück, striking a great balance between sharpness and functionality thanks to its smooth weave. The green sets off the deep brown of the dial nicely, and the combo exudes some very earthy vibes.

Simple Handmade Quick Release Watch Strap - Shorter Length in Black

Of course, if brown isn’t your thing, I’d recommend trying the Laco on our black Simple Handmade Watch Strap. Whilst the brown straps bring out the patina of the watch, this black one highlights the blacks and greys of the case and dial that’s underneath that faux aging. Also, the clean look of the strap doesn’t detract from the watch itself, so your eye is always drawn to that beautiful dial!
