Earlier this year at Watches and Wonders all eyes were on Tudor as they released new models for 2024. Fans of the Black Bay were in luck as the Swiss luxury brand showcased three new variations, but some were left wanting a little more. Over the years we’ve seen reference after reference enter Tudor’s Black Bay catalogue, so it was somewhat predictable that more would be presented from the opulence of Geneva’s Halles de Palexpo.

This time though, the brand has gone with something a little different, opting to extend their repertoire of FXD models. Having originally released the FXD back in 2021, the first Pelagos FXD was a revival of a historic collaboration between Tudor and the Marine Nationale (or, French Navy). FXD referred to the FiXeD straps incorporated into the case and the model arrived to offer a modern diving watch into the Tudor catalogue that was optimised for professional use.
A second model was then released in the Autumn of 2023. This time the FXD came without the ties to the Marine Nationale but still retained specifications that were pretty similar to the original.
With daring riders in mind...

Now, it’s the turn of the cyclists, with the release of the Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono “Cycling Edition”. The new cycling-themed chronograph has been designed specifically to meet the needs of Tudor’s own Pro Cycling Team for a cycling specific chrono with lightweight functionality.
Built to stand up to the ‘extreme demands of the sport’, the Tudor Pelagos FXD “Cycling Edition” is presented in a 43mm black matt-finished carbon composite case. Notably, for the non-cyclers amongst us, carbon fibre is also the material you’d use if you wanted to manufacture a really fast bike. Incorporated titanium elements also ensure enhanced durability whilst the watch, and its wearer, weather unpredictable conditions.
At-a-glance legibility is achieved thanks to the bold matt black dial which has been accented with red to mimic the colour palette of the TUDOR Pro Cycling Team colours. Around the circumference of the dial, a reworked tachymeter has also been incorporated. Commonly a tool used for the measurement of speed in motorsports, the Cycling Edition Chronograph features an adapted version, on which the inner ring focuses on the speeds that cyclists ride at.
