The NTH Amphion is a new addition to the NTH Subs lineup, taking inspiration from revered icons with a heritage that dates back to the tool watches issued to military divers in the post-war period. NTH has taken those quintessential tool watch designs to combine their classic, rugged style with modern capabilities.
The Amphion is designed to be a modern interpretation of what those vintage timepieces might look like if they were still being produced today, embellished with vintage-looking gilt against a stark black dial.
Each Amphion Sub model shares the same purpose-oriented design, featuring a new big-crown guard, with a slightly raised, double-domed crystal with anti-reflective coating and no-nonsense caseback. Each model has also been individually pressure-tested to ensure a water resistance rating of 30ATM (300 meters).
The 40mm case benefits from a sloped steel lumed bezel that keeps the profile slim at 11.5mm. Compared to previous Subs, the Amphion sits incredibly streamlined to the wrist, with chamfered sides and downward-curved lugs for a wrist-hugging shape, showing off NTH’s signature lumed screw-down crown and the double-locking divers clasp on a steel Oyster-style bracelet.
The dial benefits from highly legible hands and markers which are both lumed with top quality Tritec Swiss Superluminova C3. Powering the watch is an automatic Miyota 9015 (with date) or 90S5 (no date) movement. This 24-jewel movement beats at 28,800 bph and has a 42-hour power reserve. The movements in NTH Subs are regulated to within -5/+15 seconds per day.
