The 1970s produced some of the most interesting, quirky and memorable models from the watch world history books. The Meangraf from Yema was one of those watches. This Meangraf is a re-imagination of original models but with welcomed modern updates. This version of the new Meangraf introduces a double racing red stripe down the centre of the dial which flares towards the top of the dial to really double down on the 70s vibes!

At 39mmm wide with a lug to lug measurement of 45.5mm and a thickness of 13mm, the Meangraf is a compact gem on the wrist. Its sub 40mm width, square case shape and inclusion of a bezel, really assists the watches comfort level immensely.

Powering the Meangraf is the Seiko VK64 Meca-Quartz chronograph movement. This movement uses quartz power for the timekeeping with the chronograph function being mechanical. This means that the chronograph hand has the feel of a full mechanical movement, without the higher price point.

Why this watch?

  • The Meangraf is the ideal watch to inject a bit of fun into your watch collection without breaking the bank.
  • Its dial design is simple, legible and packed full of charm.
  • Coming on the mesh strap as standard only enhances how comfortable this watch is on the wrist - combine this with its great size and you’re onto a winner here!

About The Brand

French brand Yema has been making watches since 1948, when it was founded by Henry Louis Belmont, and would go on to be the top French exporter of watches in 1966-68.

The brand has produced many reliable models over the decades, such as the Yachtingraf & Rallygraf, but the most famous of which is the Superman. Introduced in 1963, with its iconic bezel lock and 300m water resistance, the Yema Superman was chosen to equip French Air Force pilots. Yema have continued this military history today, with partnerships with both the French Air Force and Marine Nationale.

In 2009 Yema launched their first in-house calibre, making it one of the few brands to offer watches with an in-house movement for less than £1,000. Today the brand are on their second generation of movements, with the three hand YEMA2000 and the GMT YEMA3000.
