This gorgeous Tissot Visodate Seastar T.12 is a delightfully quirky example of a vintage super compressor dive watch. The steel cushion case measures in at 42mm, which makes this ideal for modern wrists. Like most super compressors, the watch features two crowns. The top operates the internal rotating bezel, whilst the bottom sets the time. Unusually for a super compressor, the crowns do not sit on the same level, which adds another layer of quirkiness to this vintage watch.

The white painted hands stand out vividly against the black dial, making this an incredibly easy to read watch. Plus, the orange seconds hand and red bezel markings add some interesting pops of colour that lend the watch a definite Seventies feel.

The movement inside the Visodate Seastar T.12 is Tissot’s 784-2 calibre. This automatic movement has 21-jewels and features a date window.

What To Know

  • The case is covered in the minor scuffs and scratches expected of a watch that’s over 50 years old. The case back features some deeper dents and scratches from prior removal.
  • Due to its age, the watch should no longer be considered water-resistant.
  • The tritium lume has degraded over time and has fallen away on parts of the dial. It has also cracked on the hands.

About The Brand

Tissot has been producing watches since 1853. The brand is notable for launching the first mass-produced pocket watch, and the first pocket watch to display two time zones. It also launched the first anti-magnetic watch in 1929/1930. Today Tissot are part of the Swatch Group and are the official timekeepers for a number of sports such as MotoGP, the NBA, and the Tour De France.

This vintage watch has been checked to ensure its authenticity and that it is running and keeping good time.
