Use of the "tropical weave" Perlon watch strap can be traced back to the British Armed Forces in the 1960's. It was popular thanks to the simple lightweight design and almost infinite adjustability.
With this inspiration we have developed our own Geckota range, using braided textured nylon material and fitted with a solid polished stainless steel adjustable buckle.

I recently purchased this strap for my Hamilton Khaki Field Auto and I love it! It's my first perlon strap, so I have nothin to compare it to, but it's exactly what I was looking for. However, as the first review states, there is quite a bit of wiggle with the pin. It seems to be doing just fine but time will tell if it holds.
This is my fourth strap and first disappointment. The perlon is really nice, but I'm concerned about the hardware. The pin has a lot of sideways movement, making it clumsy to place it in the previous position. Also the buckle is very tight, making it hard to pass the end through it.
Grabbed 20 and 22mm in black and blue. Very happy with them. No issues with the 20mm on a Dagaz Typhoon 44mm head.
I did my head in trying to work out where the strap holes had gone before realising that you use the natural 'give' of the Perlon weave to create your own hole for the buckle pin! This is a 'summary', lightweight strap; so 'light' that it takes a bit of getting used to. I'm still not sure whether, even in 22mm form, it would work with a big, heavy watch head. But on a smaller watch, say up to 40mm, and as a fun leisure strap, I can see myself warming to it. Get yourself one in a favourite colour, strap it on and give it a bit of time. Even better, get a selection and ring the changes on your next beach or poolside holiday.
