There are no highs without some lows...

Motorsports ambassador Scott McKenna was back on the track this weekend as he looked to take on his other Porsche driving competitors at Brands Hatch. This was the first time Scott had been around Brands Hatch so he knew there was going to be some work to do heading into qualifying and race 1.

Race 1 Brands Hatch

Scott started race 1 in P6 after putting in a solid lap time in qualifying. A slow start from Scott made the battle all the more difficult. Combining that with multiple safety cars meant a less than perfect race. Scott was doing well, working his way up to P5 until a mistake from another driver knocked him into the gravel, taking him down to P14.

This is where he crossed the finishing line to complete a frustrating race 1 for Scott and the Redline team. Fortunately, the damage was minimal on the car.

Starting in P13 for race 2 is far from where Scott deserves to start, however, he’s always ready for a battle and was keen to redeem himself after race 1. That determination was clear to see as Scott worked his way up to P7 where history repeated itself. A collision occurred initiated by the same driver from race 1 and Scott found himself off the track again.

“It was a scruffy race for most drivers, not something you’d expect from Porsche Cup. As a team, we’ve learnt and adapted very quickly to a new track. Both the car set up and myself as a driver have come a long way this weekend, unfortunately, we just don't have the results to show for it.”

It was a tough weekend for Scott, Redline Racing and the Eighty One PowerDrink team. But there is always lots to learn from when things don’t go to plan and we’re confident in Scott’s and the team’s ability to bounce back at Oulton Park on the 20th August.
