After years of research and development seeking to imbue style and functionality to Squale’s classic designs, we are proud to present the steel bracelet for the 1521 collection. The design of this remarkable addition to our iconic series took time and numerous tests in order to best satisfy current and future 1521 owners. The new bracelet for the 1521 model is now available in three different finishes: polished, satinand sandblasted.
The most remarkable development concerns the end-link of the bracelet, which was created to produce a semi-integrated effect that best complements the innovative design of the 1521 case with its straight lugs. The result is a bracelet that appears to be a seamless extension of the case.
The new bracelet comes with an end-link compatible with all previous models of the 1521 collection, giving every owner of a Squale 1521 watch the possibility to mount it.
The design of the bracelet was inspired by the famed bracelets of the 60s, which wrapped the wrist comfortably due to their light weight. The aim is to maintain the same lightness and comfort even with full and robust steel links, supported by screw pins to provide easy and safe adjustment.
The bracelet features a double closure buckle to prevent accidental impacts from opening it. Additionally, the buckle comes with a diving extension specifically designed to be worn with a wetsuit.
In addition to the newest steel bracelets, the rubber strap have been updated too. The newest rubber straps feature a unique pattern resembling a V, initial of Squale's founder Von Buren.
The Squale 1521 series is the definition of a classic diving watch and a model that has been around for almost 40 years. Regarded as one of the most important diving watches of the 1970's, the design of this watch was made by Charles von Büren (the founder of Squale). The main priority was to create an elegant yet robust watch that could live up to the high expectations of professional divers.
As a result, the Squale 1521 is a perfect example of form following function. Details like the protected recessed crown, exceptionally legible handset, and ergonomic uni-directional bezel, combine to produce a true icon amongst dive watches.
Naturally each 1521 is powered by a tried and tested ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200 automatic movement, for accuracy and reliability in the harshest conditions. What’s more, all models feature a highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and have an exceptional water-resistance of 500m.
The Squale 1521 series is available in three different case finishes: polished, sandblasted, or matte PVD steel. There’s also a broad choice of dial colours and strap options.
About The Brand
Squale has been manufacturing professional dive watches since 1959. Back then dive watches were just emerging as a new category of tool watch, and Squale quickly established itself as a quality manufacturer of these crucial pieces of equipment.
As a result, Squale watches were worn by many record-breaking divers. In 1967 Enzo Maiorca achieved an immersion record using a Squale Master. And, in 1970 Jacques Mayol set a historic immersion record in Japan, reaching a depth of 76 meters wearing a Squale watch on his wrist.
Today Squale continues to produce many models of dive watch. All of which are professional tools able to withstand the rigours of life in the ocean.
