Been looking for an affordable fleiger and went through the usual suspects. Somehow none of them ticked all my boxes until I found out about Geckota's K1 by chance from a forum chat.
Together with a discount code and free international shipping, you get a watch that has sapphire with AR, screw-down crown, beautifully engraved caseback (I believe it's a Spitfire and a Hurricane), quality leather band and an overall high detail of finishing, it's a clear leader in it's segment.
Overall I am happy with this purchase and I will not hesitate to recommend Geckota to colleagues, friends, and definitely to you.
If there is one small niggle, and this is subjective to whether you like thicker cases: I found the case rather thick for a 40mm watch. I believe it's somewhere in the 13+mm range, which can seem a tad high for a 40mm clean dial watch (instead of chunky chronographs).
However, after a week of using I did not notice it anymore, maybe because it sits well on the wrist and is comfortable for long hours.
Oh one more thing, these guys ship their watches really fast! I'm based in Singapore and ordered the watch on Friday evening, it arrived by the following Monday afternoon beautifully packed. Usually you'd have to pay extra for a worldwide service that fast. Very pleased and will buy more from them, perhaps if they come out with a white dialled, burnt-blue hands marine style watch in the future ;-) Thank you to all at WatchGecko
I've just received the new 40mm Geckota K1 L01, and so far I'm delighted to have bought it.
The watch arrived well packed, but not in a box. The shipping was pretty swift (the delivery to Switzerland took about 5 days).
Having pre-ordered the watch, it came with 3 different straps, a Nato, a mesh and a leather, all of fine quality.
The watch itself looks solid, and its finish is quite impeccable for a product of that price range. I like the fact that there's no inscription on the dial: that makes it look more authentic, and gives it an effective, simple and very German je ne sais quoi. The hour and minute hands shine quite agreeably in the night, although I would have loved to see the second hand glitter as well. This might be my only little reproach against this watch.
The case is enjoyably brushed and very well finished. Embarking the unassuming yet robust Seiko NH35 movement, this watch is one the most affordable "flieger" on the market, and offers an excellent value for money.

I have just received the new K1 L01 and it is well worth the wait. I bought a Nylon Sport B-2 in olive green and the combo works perfectly. They quickly arrived, well packaged with the watch head in a small velvet bag to protect it. There is an excellent owners handbook which explains how to look after your watch with some great info and stunning photos. The quality K1 is everything I wanted it to be. The brushed/polished case is a lovely modern twist on a classic pilots watch. Well done WatchGecko for an excellent timepiece!
Ive had this watch for two weeks now and can honestly say that it is everything I hoped for it to be.
Its build quality is brilliant (especially considering the price), the styling is timeless, which is exactly what I was looking for and everything from to the strap to the movement are working perfectly. Something else I love about it is that it just feels very solid on your wrist and feels like a much more expensive watch than it actually is. I also have quite small wrists so the 40mm size of the watch is perfect.
I couldn't be more pleased with it and I'm certainly very happy I bought it. If I could choose one negative it's that the dial isn't as black as the pictures make it seem, since depending on the lighting it can turn to a more dark grey, but I really don't mind to be honest.
If your looking for a very well built, well designed and solid watch which you can depend on, look no further than this.
Had the watch for a while now and it's everything I was expecting.
The 40mm size fits my wrist perfectly and the design of the case means the watch really hugs your wrist, making it very comfortable. It also has a really robust feel to the watch and the build quality and finishing of the case is impecable, especially considering the price. The design of this watch is also excellent and it has a very classic look which will never go of style.
One slight negative is that the pictures make it appear that it has a deep black dial, but due to the lighting in reality it's often more of a dark grey. I am completely fine with this, just keep it in mind.
This is a stunning watch with great build quality, brilliant design and a perfect size which complements its looks. I recommend it to any watch lover.
